Gauges

This is usually a good thread starter as well as educational .
If you could only choose three gauges what would they be and why.
The first two are easy, but the third one is always up for debate.
Also the third one cant be a obdII reader.

I forgot to tell mine, FPG.Watching that gauge could save you from a fire and also tell if your fuel system is working properly.

Well, if anyone didn't plan to change the transmission, god knows why they wouldn't with all the cold start troubles, I'd say a Transmission temp gauge so they would know when it's warmed up nice so you'd be able to downshift into 1st, 2nd, or 3rd...

As for the extra third slot, I really don't know either. Maybe a voltmeter gauge.

Or, if I was a mcgyver type guy or had a lot of extra cash laying around I would modify a boost gauge and rename it the happy meter, complete with a face that will frown or smile, depending on how much boost.

Well here's your choices:

The ones in red will probably not make the cut, but I choose AFR, boost & oil pressure if OBII is not an option according to OP.^^

Air Fuel Ratio Gauge
Blower Pressure Gauge
Boost Gauge
Brake Pressure Gauge
Clock
Cylinder Head Temp Gauge
Differential Temp Gauge
Fuel Gauge
Fuel Pressure Gauge
Nitrous Pressure Gauge
OBDII Gauge
Oil Pressure Gauge
Oil Temperature Gauge
Pitch And Yaw Gauge
Pyrometer Gauge
Speedometer
Tachometer
Temperature Gauge
Transmission Temperature Gauge
Vacuum Gauge
Voltage Gauge
Water Pressure Gauge
Water Temperature Gauge

I just cobbled up three gauges over the radio display. Used an oil temp, volts and boost.

The oil temp is not connected yet. I was planning on taking off the oil filter mount and drilling and tapping that for the sender.

THE BIG THREE .....for the 2.0's anyway should be
Boost Guage
AFR wideband
and EGT (exhaust gas temp)

any more then you're just trying to be fancy.

Anyone know of a good place to put an oil temp sender?

FWIW if you don't have a tune or can't tune then the AF gauge and exhaust temp would be a waste IMHO.

If you can tune then a WBO2 AF gauge would definitely be worth it.

nope, AF is always a plus to have even if all you've done is a simple mod like your Intake. Every mod affect the AF in certain ways. and Exhaust temp, well I'm taking it as a given that most people will have modifed with a tune since it's the cheapest mod to HP you can buy!
