there's no way they're going to build a car and have it in a showroom in 2 weeks when the plant is on the other side of the planet.

i dont see that happening at all.

I am just making an assumption. I do know that they are producing the R-spec beginning of sept, just am not sure when they are releasing to the dealers. I also think that since the order forms were just sent to dealers, that it shouldn't be that much longer after they start producing them that they will be available.

why not it only takes about 6 hours for a car to be built on an average assembly line. and Hyundai has several here in alabama . Asia isn't that far from the west coast, not sure where exactly the genesis is built but timely distribution is down to a science these days.

If they start production in Sept, we will be lucky to see enough of the cars on lots to satisfy even 10% of the demand by Christmas IMO.

Correct, only if Hyundai were in a contest to see if one could actually be produced & sold in that 2wk time would it happen

Hyundai has 2 plants now in the south, 1 in Montgomery, AL that produces the SantaFe & Sonata. Then another being built in West Point, GA that will be named the Kia plant, but will produce the Accent & Elantra along with a host of smaller Kia vehicles. The Kia plant may also produce the Tiburon replacement, the Elantra Touring & Tucson. The Hyundai plant will grow once we come out of this economic depression/recession to about twice its current size. But, I don't foresee the Genesis, Genesis Coupe or Veracruz ever being manufactured in the states.

Not anytime soon, but when Hyundai Execs have been asked this question, they answer in an evasive manner basically saying that we'll have to wait & see.
