Default Iphone - Ipod connection issues

Just got myself an Iphone, amazing piece of technology.

I'm having 2 issues:

1) Voice recognition will simply not work. I have to preselect on the iphone and then it will work through the car's bluetooth.

2) The Iphone also acts as a IPod, however when I connect it using the iPod capable it seems the accessory connected is not supported.

1. make sure your sync contacts is "on", on the iphone for the coupe's BT. Then you should be able to use the voice calling. Also if your iphone is set to sorting by last name first then you actually have to say the name that way (ie., "Call <last name> <first name>"). You can change the Iphone to sort by first name.

2. If you're talking about the yes/no prompt after you connect your phone, just click no. That will let you still make calls and listen to the music. If you click yes, if shuts off the phone part. That prompt is just telling you that there may be some interference in the music while the phone part is still active. I haven't had any issues with signal interference or quality of music playback.

2. Yes, it asks if I want to switch it to "plane mode". I'll give it a try again todays.

I'll also switch to first name, last name and set it to "on".

Thanks for the help!

Don't have an iPhone but sometimes I have to enable the "plane mode" on my iPod touch to get it working with the stereo.

Today I got the Hyundai cable for my Genesis sedan with tech. Yesterday, after fiddling with an ordinary cable out of the top of my iPhone 3G (4.0 opsys) I got the iPod to play (but of course, nothing on the screen). The cable connection in the console seems to be tricky and almost like a loose connection (mentioned by others as a problems also). I tried the Hyundai cable today and the phone said "not compatible". Ignored it and it connected. But then for over 30 minutes it said "ipod is initializing". I called service and the guy said it takes a while to get the phone or ipod to dump all the songs. But I only have a few hundred songs. I gave up after 30 minutes and had to unplug the phone.

How long should an iPhone take to dump the music? (I probably have around 5 megs of music). Or do I have a cable issue?

It only takes about 30 secs for my 2,000 songs to load from my ipod, but it wil start back on the 1st song randomly while driving along for no apparent reason & I have to listen to the last 50 songs I just listened to again....quite annoying.
