I wanted more up-to-date auto reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now reports absolute repair rates that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide reliability stats on a new model like the Genesis way ahead of any other source.

We're already reporting a result for the Genesis sedan--about average so far, pretty good for a complex all-new vehicle.

We'd like to do the same for the Genesis coupe--all depends on how quickly enough owners join and participate.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Genesis, for free. I'll post results, once we have them, to this thread.

We have updated results for the Genesis to include owner experiences through June 2009. The reported repair rate of 49 repair trips per 100 cars per year is about average, and quite good for an all-new luxury sedan in its first year.

We'll have further updates in November and February. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

You're certainly welcome. Thanks for the encouragement.

We've released a reliability stat for the all-new 2010 Genesis Coupe that includes owner experiences through September 30, 2009.

We had 35 responses, but only an average of 2.5 months of data per car. So the amount of data was just over the minimum for a full result.

The reported repair rate of 81 repair trips per 100 cars per year is "about average," but not far from "worse than average."

We lso have updated results for the Genesis sedan. The reported repair rate of 49 repair trips per 100 cars per year is about average, and quite good for an all-new luxury sedan in its first year.

We'll have further updates in February and May. Based on a close reading of the data, I expect the reported repair rate for the coupe to improve in these updates, but to remain average.

The more owners participate, the better the information we can provide.

We have updated results for the Genesis to include owner experiences through December 31, 2009. The sedan's reported repair rate of 48 repair trips per 100 cars per year is about average, and quite good for an all-new luxury sedan in its first year. For the 2010 coupe, the stat is 71 repair trips per 100 cars per year. Still "about average," but in this case not far from "worse than average."

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

In the case of the 2009 Genesis, the percentage with no repairs is about 65, and the percentage of lemons is less than one.

We'll have further updates in May and August. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

You're certainly welcome. All of them, though? It's pretty much just me!

Just enhanced the related repair history survey so that it can (optionally) be used as a personal car maintenance record.

As always, more participants would be helpful. Updated Car Reliability Survey results in May, with a preview for participants next month.

We have updated results for the Genesis that include owner experiences through March 31, 2010.

2009 sedan: 42, about average but close to "better than average"

2010 coupe: 81, about average but close to "worse than average"

Everyone who has been participating, thanks, I appreciate it. We'll have further updates in August and November. The more owners participate, the better the information we can provide.

Especially need more 2010 sedans and, when they arrive, 2011s.

I wouldn't say that the sedan is much worse, and the coupe is now heading in the right direction. I'd love to have a result for the 2011s, but need more new owners involved.

One thing to remember about the sedan: it has more features than the typical Hyundai, so there are more things to break. Luxury sedans with very low repair frequencies aren't common.

I've had mine just over a year, with the only repair being the wing tail light having a couple LED's out and it was replaced. It is the only time I've been to the dealer and I'm just over 18k miles.

It's not scientifically significant, but its been the most reliable car I've ever owned.

This is some good info I really like this. Where can I go to sign up to help enter data I have every resipt for my car sense I bought it. Sadly it is a pretty thick stack... I am not looking forward to the day my warrenty drops off. This car is more expensive for dumb things than my 02 330Ci ZHP I used to have.
