Tufast and I have decided that we needed a place to post current Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) and Campaigns (recalls) that are out for our cars. We will do our best to keep this as updated as possible, so check back every now and then.

Technical Service Bulletins are usually nothing but informative bulletins, stating specifications or proper procedures for certain things. They do not indicate that a problem exists. I will probably not post every single one of these unless it specifically has to do with the Coupe because some of them cover numerous models over a number of years and aren't really useful for our purposes.

Campaigns, on the other hand, are recalls that are issued specifically for that particular vehicle for a specific problem. Every single one of these will be posted. Please be aware that just because a Campaign exists for your model of car doesn't mean that your specific car is affected. Campaigns usually cover very specific VIN ranges. A visit to your dealer will determine if yours is included in the Campaign or not.

Awesome stuff: I don't feel comfortable unless I've got a stockpile of this stuff. First thing I look for when I buy a car, new or used, is all the paperwork that's been generated over the release of the vehicle.

Thanks!

Bump for new TSB.

Can I just say that I feel like it's an embarassment that there have been enough Hyundai "Technicians" do this that they have had to generate a TSB about it. Very sad indeed.

Bumpity bump bump for 2 new TSBs... one for a bumper retaining clip change (later production dates only), and a TCM update that deals with the way trans behaves in 3rd gear in sport shift mode (automatics only).

Before you ask, I don't know if this is the long-awaited TCM update that solves whatever problem people are having regarding shift quality or ESC interference or whatever. I haven't ever experienced a problem with my auto trans. at all. Apparently some people have experienced an unwanted automatic downshift when getting on the throttle hard in third gear in sport shift mode.

However, I was going to update my ECU anyway today. Hooked my car up to the GDS, started the update procedure, and... wait... what's this? The GDS won't even LIST this update, like it doesn't even exist. It shows ZERO update events under "ECU Upgrades". After asking a couple of the guys in the shop, we all came to the conclusion that we just haven't received the update for the GDS that includes this information. I did the WebUpdate on the GDS, but apparently it's a CD that will contain this info. Being as the TSB JUST came out today, the actualy update apparently hasn't filtered down yet.

So... please don't go storming into your local dealer tomorrow with this TSB in hand asking for the update to be performed. They may not have it yet either, and they will look at you like you've lost your mind until they DO get the actual update. As soon as I can get it to work on my car, I'll let you know. If anybody else gets it before then, let us know how it goes. I am really curious to see if this makes any other difference in the way the car drives besides the 3rd gear issue.

Thanks the retainer clip thing and hole size TSB I need to get done. I noticed the back left side of the rear bumper is off by like an 1/8 inch it's barley noticeable but to us car guys its like fire every time you wash your car.

I had this done to my car before the TSB, but the rear bumper cover tends to losen up where it connnects to the body behind the rear tire inside the fender well. I noticed this when I was detailing it and had the service dept change the clips during my first oil change. I'm glad there is a TSB on it now cuz it was lame the way they had it at first.

I was kind of under the impression that the new clips were designed to go with the new rear bumper cover part number only. Perhaps I'm wrong about that.

My rear bumper cover IS loose on the driver's side and I can see which retainer clip inside the wheel well is the offending one. The place where the bumper cover, quarter panel and tail light come together has a gap in in that goes away if I push on it. Maybe I'll have them take a look at it.

I stand corrected. After taking a second look at the diagrams, I went out and looked at my vehicle and the parts replaced on mine are not the items referred to in this TSB. I should have looked closer at the diagrams the first time I viewed them.

Sorry, I've been pretty busy up here at work and I didn't notice.

That particular TCM calibration is for the sedan, the weatherstripping is for the Coupe.

I'll get it updated as soon as I get a chance.

Bump for 4 new TSBs. Sorry it took so long for me to get them up. Seems that my file hosting account is chewing up bandwidth... imagine that... lol.

Two more fairly important ECU updates today. The first is the fabled shift-hang fix for 3.8l manual users, and the other is the rev-hang fix for 2.0T users.

8/10/2009 [BK13] 09-FL-010 ECM UPDATE - DTC P0605 OR SLOW RPM DROP WHEN..
8/10/2009 [BK13] 09-FL-011 ENGINE RPM CONTROL LOGIC UPDATE

Sweet. You think Hyundai will have it distributed to dealers already? They have my car now and I'd like for them to do this while they have it in there.

Bump for new TSB on Bluetooth & Audio Update.

This is a newer and more comprehensive update than the one that was leaked onto the net shortly after the car went on sale.

I apologize, it was just a wrong day, wrong time, wrong place kind of thing. I should have re-read that a couple of times before I posted it.

The bluetooth quality was a major issue when the Coupes first came out, and a "non-official" update was leaked onto the net that you could load to a USB drive and update via the USB port. I would upgrade the system to version 1.02 and inproved the call quality by a HUGE margin.

This new one is an official Hyundai update, and updates the audio system software as well as the bluetooth software. It is software version 1.05 and bluetooth version 180 (previous was 170).

No prob...

I actually tried that "non official" upgrade as well and luckily it did not work, but I was compelled to try because of the poor quality of the Bluetooth audio. If you have ever tried the Microsoft Sync in the Ford vehicles then you know how Bluetooth should perform.

Peace
Rychehawk
