Hey, where is this fuse located?

I had the same problem ONCE in the 1st week of owning the car. Drove it in 1" sleet on the road, felt snow, sleet pounding under the floorpan. Drove 7 minutes to parking garage then took train to NYC.

I came back 11 hours later, everything still wet (temperature went up, and everything it got humid). I pressed the ignition button and the started just turned over and over for 10 secs. I pressed it off again, waited 2-3 sec, and then tried again, and have never had any problems since then (3 months).

I thought maybe I should still check the fuse?

It is located under the drivers side of dash left of steering wheel in that fuse block/box. It will be yellow in color & larger than the rest of the fuses. You will not be able to pull it completely out as it is retained in there, but it will come out far enough to lose contact. Just push in on it to make better connection.

I know which you are talking about (it has a blue and red mini short fuse in it) and I doubt that is the fix because I blew one of those fuses in my car and so I replaced it - this was about three/four months ago. I never had this happen to me ever until Yesterday. I have had it since July with 7,000 miles now.

I think you are on the right track though as far as the problem - a loose or bad connection is what I am suspecting which may also present as a bad/loose fuse. Although, in my case not.

So, I went to the grocery store last night for a late-night ice cream run, and when I went to go start the car after getting back in, the starter motor engaged and kept going for like 5 seconds, and didn't stop until I pressed the start/stop button again. The engine started normally the 2nd time Usually, the starter engages for 1/2-1 second and then the engine fires right up. Needless to say, it was pretty scary having the engine just keep turning over with no result. I hope nothing was damaged. The car has 5100 miles on it, and I just got my first oil change at 4800 miles.

Do you guys think this is the sign of a more systemic problem? Should I get it looked at, or wait to see if it happens again before taking it in?

Thanks
Seems like this post took a wrong turn some where. These other issues seem to be a different problem, as they are talking about a no start condition, not a grinding starter while running issue.

This issue is the same issue I had and it is defiantly a Proximity key issue, read my post and you will see it is the same problem. Prox key issue? Starter engages when already running!!!

Also make note of what dash lights are on when this happens, it should be the car icon with the key in it, that light should not come on if the key is in the car, if it is on when the car is running and the key is in the car...DO NOT PRESS THE STARTER BUTTON! It will most defiantly grind the starter.

Take your key and move it around or put it in the dash slot, but just wait for that light to go off first.
