Question Can the 2.0T be modded to ~350 whp?

Hello,

I would sell my '09 Mazdaspeed3 to get a Genesis coupe if I knew it can reach ~350 whp with a few mods such as:
larger turbo, FMIC, improved intake and exhuast parts.

My understanding is most or all parts are availabe, however, there is no specific tuning system such as a Cobb AP and/or having the ECU tuned by a professional local tuner.
Is there any information about when the GC will be able to be tuned and modded to reach my hp goals?

Thank You

The car can reach 350whp. Whether it can do that safely without replacing any internals has yet to be proven however. There are a few builds going on that have broken the 315-320 mark, and one that reached new 350 before internals failed.

The car being very new, I would say 350 is very possible. Just give some companies a bit more time to figure things out.

As for the tuning side of things, there is an awesome tuning solution available. One of the supporting vendors on this site, PowerAXEL, has created a program which can do this. I recommend checking out their vendor section on this site, they are involved in almost every major build going on for this car right now. And Vincent from PowerAXEL is very involved in the community which is super awesome.

Welcome to the forums visceral! In response to your question I would check PowerAXEL in the vendor area and a good place to start is with MSGeoman's new thread

http://genesisforums.org/hyundai-gen...ld-thread.html

But I notice majred has beat me to it. I still would say check out the link to the build thread

Welcome to the forums visceral.
Browse around and i'm sure you'll find most of the answers you are looking for.

and when you get a chance you should tell us a bit about yourself in the new members section. one of the mods will likely chime in with the same recomendation soon.

I definitely agree that its attainable 4TGEN, we just need to see what it takes to make it reliable. Hopefully, we will have an answer soon!

This is where we currently stand with the Coupe. The Buschur Racing Coupe goes back to the dyno!

The car needs tuned badly. Once we can tune the car we will be rolling with it.

We have an upgraded factory turbo sitting here to try but we need something to tune it the car with first as we want to see the limit of the factory turbo instead of jumping the gun to the upgraded OEM unit we have here. Once we find the limit the factory HOUSING then we will look at a turbo kit if need be. We have a few different combinations of turbo internals to try with the stock turbo. As Ive said in the past and I will say it again.... going to a big turbo is not always the best option. It can take away from the FUN factor of the car.

Here is part of a post I made yesterday on another GC site where the discussion of 350whp for $4000 kept being brought up daily and everyone saying that it is possible. I think its good information that everyone who owns a Coupe with the thoughts of modifying it should keep in mind.

350+whp for 4k
I do not know where some people get the "information" of power, pricing and future sales. Ive read numerous posts on this topic lately and all it is doing is spreading false information around the community.

The only thing that can be stated for a FACT right now is current pricing on the items available. No further info of what is going to be made for power or future sales is available at this time.

If I could see the future I would have won the lottery a long time ago and right now I would be sitting at my beach house in Cancun watching re-runs of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, drinking some iced coffee I cant pronounce the name of while getting a nice back massage from some hot girl who doesnt say anything I understand other than calling me Papi. Unfortunately.... I haven't won the lottery.

Back to reality.... The future can not be seen for power or sales. Knocking $500-$1000 off of $4000 is a REALLY good discount. Despite some belief... there is not that type of profit margin in aftermarket parts. If we hiked the price WAY up then there would be yes. We offer our items at a competitive level with "best bang for your buck" in mind.

As for pricing and HP breakdown as of now this is where we are:

The car right now... Is at 204WHP.

With these power making mods which are on the car now:
Buschur Racing Race FMIC Kit w/ Piping
Buschur Racing Catback Exhaust
Buschur Racing Intake (priced it without the CF shield)
Buschur Racing Manual Boost Controller
Buschur Racing TiAL BOV kit (guesstimated a guess price on this)

Those 5 items come to $2902 (ROUGHLY)

You still need a tune. If you use the Power X and get a custom dyno tune you could add another $1000 to that. A custom dyno tune will run you about $300 and the Power X unit is going to be $699.

There is $3900. We still have 146whp to go to reach 350whp.

If you have the items installed you have to factor that in and then also state sales tax if you were to get the work done here or you live in Ohio and bought the parts to install yourself. If we ship the items out of state you do not pay Ohio sales tax as you do not live here.

Hopefully this breaks pricing down a bit more into perspective so.

Another thing to keep in mind is this... all dyno's do NOT read the same. The dyno we use is a Mustang dyno. It is a load based dyno so the vehicle weight is loaded on the rollers as if you were actually driving on the road. This allows for accurate WHEEL HORSEPOWER readings as well as a spot on tune.

There are a few other dyno's that are load based but typically Mustang's are what many people relate to as they read low. Some of the newer Dynojets can be ordered with the load bearing option which would help them read closer to a Mustang.

Dynojets typically read flywheel horsepower that is why you will see some Dynojet #'s are significantly higher than say a Mustang. For instance... our Evo X made 407whp on our Mustang. We took the car to the Dynojet AWD down the road about 10 miles and it made 447hp the same day, same air within a half hour apart.

The only reason I brought this up is so its something everyone can take into account when looking into what is available for parts.

Also remember that not all parts perform the same as the next. If they did there would be only one manufacturer offering products. A shops/manufacturers parts work best when all used together with that same manufacturers/shops. That is how they are designed at be at their prime.

If you have any questions I would be glad to help you out, give my insight, opinion, etc... feel free to shoot me a PM. That goes for anyone.
