Default DSport Magazine Test and Tune the GC 2.0T

DragSport.com - DSport Magazine - Tech - 2010 Hyundai Genesis

For those who don't read the magazine I saw in the Jan. 2010 issue of DSport that they will be doing test and tune's for the GC 2.0t. The article includes what they installed and tested including a Dynojet CMD, Road Race Motorsports short ram intake, and axleback exhaust.

They are claiming just from these items there was a 34whp increase and a 105lbs of torque increase. They did mention in the next issue they would be doing another segment on it as well possibly putting in a bigger turbo., so I'm going to keep my eyes on it.

Just thought I'd share for everyone.

Nice find! Just from this article an argument could be made that anybody's first mod should be the CMD. The intake and exhaust didn't give as much increase as the CMD did alone and backs up what others have found, that Hyundai did a fairly good job with the stock intake and exhaust.

Stock - 191.14hp/195.9 lb*ft
+CMD - 221.93hp/291.67 lb*ft (+30.79 hp/+95.77 lb*ft)
+CMD&RRM Intake - 222.16hp/297.92lb*ft (+31.02 hp/+ 102.02 lb*ft)
+CMD&RRM Intake&RRM Exhaust - 225.54 hp/300.58 lb*ft (+34.4 hp/+104.68 lb*ft)

+1 on the CMD, it Definitely sold me for it, that is a serious increase in torque, which is what I want rather than lots of HP.

I jsut read over the article again and it seems they will be for sure doing a FMIC, and a high flow exhaust.

Running a cmd myself. I don't know if it's the end all to be all but right now anything that gives you control over fueling is gold.

Yeah interested to see what a FMIC and full cat or turbo back exhaust will do for power although I'm expecting that the biggest bottle neck will still be the turbo which in conjunction with a FMIC and exhaust will really make power levels jump.

It definitely wakes the car up. I think AGP got Hardmacks car up to 250whp and over 300ft/lbs with CMD and his other bolt ons. I should have a stock tune vs cmd 20psi dyno posted soon as well, just waiting to break 1000 miles before upping boost any. It gave ~25whp and 70ft/lbs on my wifes car, makes it feel like a fun car to drive.

I bought it when it hit the stand just for the GC article. Liking the idea of getting the CMD when I pickup my coupe.

Yep I agree but for the avg person who just wants a little extra power at very little cost, the CMD provides a good price to performance value. Now if the CMD controlled Ignition, the electronic throttle.. and still keep that $$ to performance value it could very well be all you would need and the other guys would be playing catch up.

Dont get me wrong I love the love the CMD provided for my car... as Dynojet releases modules to get more out of their CAN protocol devices its gonna be pretty cool... Personally I would rather see ECUTEK or some type of Stock PCM control software (ala Evoscan) so we can harness the stock ecu.

I was thinking of going to a full stand alone and that still might happen but its gonna be time will tell as the market matures over another race season... Plus the guys at AMS and other companies have not come out with their product lines and they have TONS of money for RnD so there will surely be some great things to come...

Me personally I cant wait for some of the part AGP have been working on (in my car of course) to be publically released... I think you gys will be really excited!
