Default Question on pricing

I test drove a Genesis 2.0T Premium the other day. I really liked the car, but after reviewing the different models, I'd probably go with the R-Spec or Track. I could care less about all of the cosmetic stuff you get with the Premium/Track, but I would be interested in the xenon headlights and fog lights that come with the track model. I've done a little bit of work on cars I've had in the past, but I'd probably get this stuff professionally installed to save myself some headaches.

Can someone give me a ballpark price of what I would pay to purchase and install the Xenon headlights and fog lights into the R-Spec model? I'm curious if it's worth paying the extra cash for the Track model if I don't care about the other stuff.

Also, are there any websites that sell those kits for cheaper? I know I could get them through Hyundai, but I'm sure I'd be paying a bit more if I bought them direct from Hyundai.

Don't forget bluetooth, and homelink. I didn't think I'd need or want them either. I'm so glad I got them. Once you add everything up, and the fact that the R-Spec is selling at a premium, buy a Track

To install factory HIDs on a non-equipped model, including levelers would run you a couple of grand. You could go aftermarket with just bulb replacement, although I personally disagree with this mod due to the effect it has upon on-coming traffic. I've been blinded by riced out Civics running aftermarket HIDs w/no levelers & its no fun.

But if you decide to go with aftermarkets, I recommend Halo bulbs through Sparkplugs.com who is one of our vendors & right now have their bulbs at 20% off. Here is link:
HALO bulbs 20% off!

BTW....Welcome to the site.

I was afraid of the HIDs costing a lot of money. What about the fog lights? How much could I expect to pay to buy those and have them installed?

I don't care about the Bluetooth or the Homelink. I've never had Homelink so I don't really know nor care what I'm missing out on. I have a Pioneer 980-BT head unit in my current car. I would just take it out and install that in the GC so the Bluetooth is irrelevant. There's literally nothing in the Premium that I would want or need, and that carries over to the same features in the Track. My question would be if the things I care about in the Track model are worth the price difference, mainly the HIDs and fog lights. It sounds like the HIDs might make up the price difference, but I'm curious how much it would cost me for just fog lights.

Fog lights will only run you a couple to few hundred tops depending on bulb selection. The foglight housings them selves can be found on Ebay and a bunch of the other Genesis Coupe vendors. Probably $20 for a wiring kit, $30 for some halogen bulbs, and $90-$100 for the OEM fog light housings. Personally I wouldn't do HID in the fog lights as they have a reflector housing and you will be blinding people if they're too bright, which leads to...

My only thoughts on the HID headlight conversion is that most older Civics, Eclipse, and other cars that have HID conversions have reflector type housing, not projector like the GC. The housing makes a big difference. I've seen a few cutoff line pics on the other GC site of people with DiodeDynamics HID conversion kits and it looks almost identical to the cut off on my Track with factory HIDs.

Edit: Trying to find the other ones that were a bit better, but here's one shot of the HID conversion. Notice the really bright part is almost level with the tail lights of the civic in front of it with very little above the hood.

Here's another

Thanks for the info, CrookedH. The pics help a lot. I wouldn't put HIDs in the fog lights. I'm interested in the conversion in the headlights and how much that might cost. I'll try to dig up some pricing information on eBay and the DiodeDynamics HIDs.

Any idea on how much the labor would cost if I paid someone to install the headlights and fog lights? Like I said in the original post, I have some experience working on cars but would rather just have someone else install it to avoid any headaches. I had to take the dashboard apart in my first car just to install some gauges. After that, I realized I don't have the tools or the patience to do everything that I'd like to do to my cars.

EDIT: I just went to the Diode Dynamics website, but I didn't see any conversion kits for the Genesis. Everything listed was LEDs for license plates, dome lights, etc. Any idea which kit they're using in those pics?

EDIT 2: Whoops, never mind. I was looking at the wrong part of the website. Thanks again for the info.

I would imagine 2 hours labor should cover it. It took me about that long so a pro could probably do it even quicker and have the HID bulbs installed in the headlights in the same time. Most shops around here charge $60-$100 / hour.
