Look at the triangulation they have between the A pillar and cowl though. one is build in to the frame already.

No doubt about it, this is a strong chasis. I wonder how effective bracing will be. Only time will tell I guess.

yeah, i see the triangulation plate built into the frame. looks already strong enough. but if i would to even reinforce more, then i would just go with a straight bar connecting just two points diagonally.

I want my car to be so stiff that when i go up the driveway i get a wheel to come off the ground

that brace is almost useless even before being compared to real mods.

basically look at what you're keeping from flexing: the area in front of the shock towers. i can't see this doing anything to good enough to compensate for the weight and clutter to the engine bay.

unfortunately while it looks cool 98% (if not 100%) of this mod is rice

do NOT make this your first mod or your 20th mod.

I wouldn't call it useless, it is very OD though, the chassis of the gen is VERY stiff, This is more like a safety cage than chassis stiffening. Like makoto says, the stiffening in front of the engine is almost useless, and will have adverse effects during a crash, it will hinder the crumple zone from crumpling correctly. The under body will stiffen it up, but again... its a bit much, This car is either prepped for 4000HP, or a destruction derby.

impact? those bolts will sheer off waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before that thing bends the chassis.

this part is one of those things that is easy to make (because it doesn't do anything), pretty, and people will rationalize purchasing it even though it carries only negative effects with being on the car.

i stayed out of the vendor thread about this because its a jerk move to crap on someone's thread when they're just trying to get us what they think we want but here i want to be very clear that if you buy this part you'd be better off sending me the money. then you wont have to install anything, your car wont be slower, and you wont be cursing the ugly thing in your engine bay keeping you from working on your car.

I didn't state that one brace would help but "if you do ALL that stiffening on one vehicle"

I had no intention of personally doing any of these stiffening mods as losing weight means more to me than anything except maybe gaining power & they are neck & neck.

I aggree, & if I ever decide to put all that crap on, in, or around my car, I'll start cutting you checks.

I will be making 2 stiffening mods though: 1) Larger rear sway bar & 2) Rear cross strut tower brace

you got a deal! the brace is good but i want trunk space and that will be the most rigid place in the whole car since its not a hatchback. that would help at least a little but you'd probably never notice the difference.

rear sway bar isn't chassis stiffening, that has to do with making the suspension work better. the thing i like bout this car is that there isn't a lot of work to do. everything that needs to be done is already done.

we just have the option to swap out for better things for our specific interests.

i'll be upgrading the expendable brake stuff + exhaust + intake components before i ever worry about the suspension. i know those things can be better. what i dont know is how much work the suspension needs to get where i want it without making it ride like a gokart on a cobblestone road.

Yeah, personally I wish the seat didn't fold down, then I wouldn't be so keen on the rear strut tower brace. My bimmer has a solid panel between the trunk & the rear seat & I still installed a rear strut brace,, so who knows

Yeah, I know the rear sway bar is not structural rigidity part, but going larger will possible increase weight a little, which I'm pretty much anal about.

Neither of these will be on the top of my list of mods, but to be honest, there are so many things I want to do right off the bat, I'll probably go completely nuts trying to figure out what to do 1st. I have decided to have at least $2 grand for downpayment for lease & an additional $5 grand to get some stuff to start with. But, with all I want, that won't last long at all.
