CN CHEO Ride (OTTAWA)

Hey, everyone.

Here's the deal, I dislike imposing, especially on people I haven't met in person (in most cases). However, I'm riding, bicycling, specifically, in the CN Cycle for CHEO on Sunday (May 2nd).

CHEO is the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

And I'm posting this in the "Canada" subforum, because I really, really don't feel it's fair to ask anyone outside the country to donate.

But I'm looking for sponsorship in that ride. Two bucks, ten bucks, a hundred bucks. Whatever you want to donate, whatever you can spare. If it's $10 or more, you get a tax recipt.

My first two years in Ottawa, for school, I rented a room: the owner lived in the house and rented rooms out. She was a total sweetheart of a lady, and she worked in the Cancer ward at CHEO. I heard all her stories about the things these kids go through. This is my one big charity gig for the year, in large part because of that.

Because of very generous donations from corporations in the area, 100% of all donations from people go to the CHEO Foundation, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Support Programs, and Ronald McDonald House. They do good things for kids who really don't have a lot of good things in their lives.

If you can donate, I'd appreciate it. And if you'd like to do so, please use the Secure Donations Page

And if you want to come out and laugh at me riding in the rain, it's 8:30am Sunday morning, starting and finishing at the War Museum. I'm riding in the 70km event (i'm hoping to finish in 2h30m or less) The Events

Thanks folks. I'll only ask this once, as I don't believe in ramming this stuff down people's throats. But you gotta ask, if you're going to find out.

Again, thanks to all that do help.

Thanks man. I used to do that (and more) as a matter of course, but the last two years... I think 60km was my longest, and THAT hurt.

Should be interesting. But as long as I'm not the slowest,

No worries!

I've a feeling this may turn into a yearly thing.

Tufast: for better or worse, there are pics. Just waiting for the GF to process 'em. Then, the story of the race comes too.

Here ya go: I'm not an elegant guy on a bike, but I get the job done.

Oh, yeah. That IS coffee, not water, before the race. :D

They dramatically mis-estimated the length of the race. it was 81km, not 70km. So, I finished in 2h43m13s. I averaged 29.73km/h, and that would have been higher, except a chunk of the track was in traffic, and I had to keep stopping for lights and Police. :)

Hurt like hell on Monday and Tuesday, but I'm thinking about signing up for another one later in the summer, now!

1st pic didn't show, but I can imagine you drinking coffee...so its cool. You look pretty fresh in those pics, so I assume they are from the beginning......now show us a couple at the end where you are about to fall out....LoL Anywho props to ya for doing it, better man than me.

Actually, that's probably at the 60km mark!! I tend to pace pretty well.

Not sure why the other one didn't stick: here's the link at least (twitpic): @cyclaw @boozysmurf on Twitpic

Thanks man! I've been really rough this week, tweaked my back from pushing too hard. Much better now, and it didn't stop me f#$kin' around installing the new wheels. :D
